Mia Luciana Jewelry
Svetlana Unterreiner stands for the label Mia Luciana. She was born in Belarus in 1978. Already during her childhood she was full of creativity. Love was the reason why at the age of 17 she moved to Vienna, and it did not take her long to graduate from the Gemmology Academy. Since then, she turned her passion into her profession, creating extraordinary pieces of jewelry. Mia Luciana conveys the message of love in three languages Meine Liebe, My Love, Моя любовь, for this is what she intends to achieve with her creations.

DIAMOND GIRL: „I already collected stones when I was a child, I polished them to a high gloss finish with my mother’s detergent which was rather costly in those times”, says Svetlana Unterreiner who grew up in Belarus during perestroika times. At that time she was already permitted what had been rigorously banned before: wearing golden earrings with her school uniform. It was not until she came to Austria that the jewellery enthusiast turned her passion into a business: “During maternity leave after I had my first child, I studied at the Gemmology Academy in Linz, I was the first Russian student to graduate there.”
At that time, Svetlana Unterreiner was 20, the year before she had married an Austrian. Three more years earlier, having graduated from high school, she travelled to Vienna to visit her half sister Anna Singer who at that time had already been resident in Vienna for quite some time. “It was a matter decided in my family that I was to follow her one day, because in Moscow opportunities for work were scarce”, Unterreiner tells us. And furthermore: “Vienna is charming, this city has given me so many opportunities.” After having jobbed at first in her half sister’s fashion boutique, the mother of meanwhile four children created her own jewellery label “Mia Luciana” which she has been marketing since 2007, with its brand “ML” standing for “message of love” in German, English as well as in Russian. Svetlana acquired the skills of jewelry design with high fashion jeweller Schullin on Vienna’s prestigious Kohlmarkt street.
For her own collections, she now converts old pieces of jewelry to turn them into modern works of art. And of course also stones characterize her designs – no matter if it is extra long chains or extra big earrings, the important thing is that they sparkle. And most preferably with diamonds.
